We're All Republicans Now!

More 11 dimensional chess from the a Administration, obviously:
WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama's top adviser suggested to The Huffington Post late Wednesday that the administration was ready to accept an across-the-board continuation of steep Bush-era tax cuts, including those for the wealthiest taxpayers.

That appears to be the only way, said David Axelrod, that middle-class taxpayers can keep their tax cuts, given the legislative and political realities facing Obama in the aftermath of last week's electoral defeat.

"We have to deal with the world as we find it," Axelrod said during an unusually candid and reflective 90-minute interview in his office, steps away from the Oval Office. "The world of what it takes to get this done."
The Republicans are unapologetically defending tax cuts for the super rich.

You're defending tax cuts for poor and middle class Americans.

This is a clearly a fight you want to run away from.

  1. But! But! But Obama's the only one with the veto, who can make ultimatums to apply pressure to the republicans!

For example, he could say "No, you won't cut taxes for the rich while we have a deficit. I'll veto the whole fucking thing if you do and we'll see how you like that."

    EXCEPT THAT HE WON'T

    OMG HE'S AN INVERTEBRATE WHY

  2. haha, exactly.

I'm pretty sure that anyone who had only followed politics for the past 2 years wouldn't know the presidential veto existed.

Getting into power, then pretending you don't have power... gah!

  3. He doesn't want to be the guy who vetos a tax cut. Veto is more "I'm against X", not "I would prefer Y". And if X is a tax cut, in any form, they get to keep spouting the "Obama wants to take your money" line.
What would be great is if we could make the republicans vote down the version with tax cuts for the middle-lower class but not rich. Then WE get to say "they oppose tax cuts!" and just leave out the who and why. They don't want to pass this bill with tax cuts in it. Period.
