I Was A Drum Major

I know this isn't the biggest deal in the world, but it drove me absolutely insane and I'm really happy it was fixed.
A badly excerpted quote shown on the Martin Luther King Jr. National Memorial in Washington will be corrected, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar told the Washington Post on Friday. Salazar has given the National Park Service 30 days to come up with a more accurate alternative.
“I was a drum major for justice, peace and righteousness,” the quote on the monument reads.

  1. It's funny because I'm always saying, "this isn't written in stone or anything, but..." How do you fuck up something that is ACTUALLY written in stone? One would think that they'd make absolutely sure that it was correct before they carved it.

  2. Haha, yeah, I actually was wondering the same thing. This monument was planned for like 10 years!!! It was even worse when they claimed it wasn't a fuck up, and they were paraphrasing. Yeah, MLK, one of the greatest speakers ever, needed paraphrasing. Idiots.
