That dude rules. Remember when he tried to impeach Cheney and actually read a list of Cheney's borderline war crimes in front of the house? Thank god that man is in congress.

Incidentally (really this deserves its own post), you know what would make the biggest difference in heath care costs of anything that's never discussed? Restructuring the drug research/patent system so that drug companies don't have to recoup all of their R&D investment from people who need the drugs to live but can't actually afford the R&D-caused pricetag. I have no idea why this isn't issue #1.6.54https://www.blogger.com/profile/16142293932150029874noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8785387207570374478.post-66029196325389548372010-03-12T10:06:29.916-05:002010-03-12T10:06:29.916-05:00Despite months of being weighed down by vast piles...Despite months of being weighed down by vast piles of crap, this bill is probably marginally better than the status quo. Coverage will be extended to a lot of people who currently go without, although I think this is pretty much the worst way to go do that. But we're still missing most of the key elements of meaningful reform, and I don't buy the claim that we're necessarily going to be able to go back and fix it in a year or two.

Great post. I'm gonna have my own post up soon on the state of health care reform, but that paragraph sums things up really well.JJhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02082265494052859780noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8785387207570374478.post-41243238289445350802010-03-11T22:27:37.306-05:002010-03-11T22:27:37.306-05:00This bill is no longer even close to being a healt...This bill is no longer even close to being a healthcare reform bill. It takes away money and care from the elderly, the middle class, and the poor and gives money to the HMOs, the health insurers, and the wealthy speculators who own those corporations. Big money campaign contributions have so corrupted DC that we have a bill that is actually even worse than what we have now, which is no small accomplishment.

I will permanently boycott any politician or organization that supports a primary challenge against Kucinich, whose only offense is not being bought and paid for by the larcenous and murderous HMOs.libhomhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05537213558568338561noreply@blogger.com
