I've been meaning to write up a post on media issues, based partly on this kick ass piece by Eric Boehlert (aptly titled "McCain and Palin are Laughing at the Press –- and It's the Press' Fault") but it's just too big to put into a single post and now the article's getting old. So, to the comments it goes.

The gist:

"The MSNBC host [Chris Matthews], along with the rest of the press corps, seemed to be in heated agreement that the lipstick story was a worthless joke. And then they covered it ad nauseam. Why would the McCain camp look at that performance and think that political journalism was a serious business? Why would the McCain camp look at that sad display and care what the press said or thought about anything (including fact-checking) as long as the press dutifully spread around McCain's campaign smears?

The campaign press has become a joke, and McCain and Palin are laughing at it."

By the way, reasons #2 and #3 that Obama will win are that he's considerably taller and has better hair.6.54https://www.blogger.com/profile/16142293932150029874noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8785387207570374478.post-61779711329249068342008-09-19T14:19:00.000-04:002008-09-19T14:19:00.000-04:00Sadly it still does come down to stuff like this f...Sadly it still does come down to stuff like this for so many people, and when our media does nothing but focus on trivial bullshit, who can be too surprised.

We may win this round with Obama, but in general when people don't vote with issues, we lose.

How we change that is anyone's guess...JJhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02082265494052859780noreply@blogger.com
